4Great value for money; missing some refinements
By Andy
Picked up one of these at a Black Friday sale for $400, which I figured was worth the risk. I've had a few Coby products before (DVD players) that were also a great value and lasted forever. In the few days I've had this, it's definitely a great value. The picture is great, although the color had to be adjusted a bit (standard settings seemed to produce a reddish hue) and any complaints would be mitigated by the price. These include poor speakers (as noted previously), slow reacting remote (which you'll probably change anyhow), very cheap plastics (you can see internal clip and screw locations), and missing electronic niceties like sound suppression when turning off TV (loud pop through audio) and limited component connections (3 HDMI inputs, one composite, one 3.5mm audio and one SPDIF coax (not optical)).So, we'll see how long it lasts, but right now, it's a great picture for a great price. If you can get it for $200 less than a name brand, it's worth it.

4Good Picture but buy some external speakers
By Thomas Waldrop
I have had this tv for 2 weeks and have been impressed with the picture and quality so far. Feel like the price was right for less than $600, which is less than I paid for my 37" LCD 5 years ago. This is my first LED tv purchase so I don't have much of a comparison against other LED screens. The tv menu and functionality is pretty basic. The speakers are pretty much worthless so you better invest in some sort of soundbar or surround system to go with. Vizio has an amazing soundbar on the market with a wireless subwoofer that I'm loving so far.Overall, it's a really good LED picture for the money, not quite a Samsung, but not quite the expensive price tag either.

3Great price but some backlight edge bleed
By Powerzzzz
I got a great deal on this tv at $400 at a local store. But right from the begining I noticed the backlight was bleeding on the top right and lower right corners of the screen. While watch full screen tv its not very noticable unless it's a very dark scene. But watching a dvd with the black bars on the top and bottom you can see it all the time. Which has bothered me from day one.I emailed Coby customer service the day after I bought it, AND Coby technical service a couple days later, and have yet to hear back from them. Its been almost a full week now with no returned emails, guess I'll have to call Coby. Which I hate, because I have to set aside time in my day to wait on hold. The speakers do suck but I have surround sound and try not to use the tv speakers anyways.I've got the picture set up pretty nice and if it wasn't for the backlight bleed, I'd give it 5 stars.I'll update my review as I hear back from Coby.

1Buy Something Else....
By K. Miller
On short notice I had to replace a very nice Samsung 26" LCD HDTV. My space required nothing wider than 28"...so I was limited in choices...and shut out of the most common 1080p 32" units available.I purchased the 29" LG LED TV.Pros: It is cheap at around $300. It fit the space I had...the TV was 26.3" wide. The "pros" end there.Cons: The screen resolution is worse than you would expect from a 720p resolution on satellite (DirecTV).The picture adjustments, although aided by a nice on-screen app, are clumsy. The results from the app make you want to try it yourself for color and contrast balance. The instructions and documentation are very poor. I called Amazon tech support, which provides 30 days of free advice on this unit. Even they had no documentation for the unit. The component inputs and outputs are very bare bones. In fact, the unit provides NO AUDIO ANALOG output. Therefore, you can forget about piping this into your media center receiver. The downside of this is that the speakers on the TV are subpar...so you better be using this in a small room.Compared to the 8 year old Samsung I was replacing, the interfaces available on this LG were primordial. Did I mention it was CHEAP?The stand is not adjustable, so that if you need to center the unit in a media cabinet, you just need to stack up some books. The overall styling is very generic...Over all, if you have time to consider other units, do so. There is no reason to waste time on a unit like the LG when better 1080p units should be available soon in this size (29") class.Amazon gladly offered to take the unit back, but had no replacements in the size range. Maybe its time to turn off the tube and do some reading.

53D TV done right
By Vynny
My previous TV was a three-year old Panasonic HDTV 50" plasma and so I'm able to review this TV with some experience with another set that had similar specifications. I wasn't expecting massive leaps in image quality and merely purchased this TV because of the low price it was at and the fact that I wanted the 3D experience.I have to say however that once tweaked, this set is leaps and bounds beyond my older TV. The image is clearer and is much brighter. Of course as I said you have to tweak it to get that perfect image and by far in a way the most essential tweak is to switch off the terrible energy saving option that infects this television. The theory is this 'intelligently' dims areas of the unneeded sections of the screen to save power since plasmas draw a lot of juice. The reality, however, is everything looks dirty and dim even at 100% brightness. In fact with the energy saving setting on, the more I tweaked things, the dimmer the TV seemed to get. Thankfully it's just a quick disable of this option and retina-burning brightness is the wonderful result. Just how I like it.Once I was satisfied with the image settings I immediately played the IMAX 'Ultimate Wave Tahiti' 3D blu ray to stretch its legs. And I was blown away. Everything looked so clear yet... in 3D! And I love the fact that the menu options are also in 3D meaning that tweaking the depth settings whilst playing a 3D movie is extremely easy (and quite effectively bizarre). Now there's a lot of features on this set - youtube, web browser, vudu, games, apps and so on and I've yet to try any of them. This is due to the fact that this 'wifi ready' set doesn't have wifi; you have to buy the LG AN-WF100 Wi-Fi USB Adaptor or use a cat5 cable. I almost dinged the overall rating stars because of this. Even sub-$100 gadgets like apple TV has wifi built in. I decided against the ding and have ordered the dongle but boy is it frustrating to spend four figures on a set up only to find you're missing a 1 inch long peripheral that cost $20 or so. This also means I haven't had chance to try the supplied extra mouse pointer wii-like remote controller (you also get a nice light-up normal remote) although it does look interesting.Sound is also unused in my set up as I have a 7.1 receiver. Usually sound on these sets is passable but nothing to write home about - I can't imagine this set pumps out huge bass because it's so thin, but perhaps the speakers are in the base or something. In all honestly if you're getting this TV then you probably already have equipment that sounds better than the in built speakers though.Almost certainly due to the high brightness that I have this set I do notice a lot of inherent memory. This is often thought to be burn-in on plasmas and I read in another review for this plasma TV that they were whitewashing the set every night to rectify it. Please don't do this! Temporary image retention is normal for a plasma and it self corrects itself fairly quickly once you start watching something else. This set 'suffers' from it no more than any other plasma that I've seen and I just wanted to put that out there in case you bought it and thought you'd ruined it with some burn in.So what we have here is a utterly stunning TV that's got everything you need. It's ten steps ahead of my three year old plasma in all respects plus it's 70lbs lighter. I cannot recommend this TV highly enough regardless of whether you're into the 3D thing. What a great set.

1Loved it until it went RED!
By Nancy E Thompson
I bought this TV (LG 50PZ750 plasma) for Father's Day and had it just less than a month. I LOVED it..easy to set up,remote easy to use, GREAT picture, accessed Netflix easily, yadayadayada...UNTIL one morning we turned it on, after having the power completely off, and the screen was tinted RED all over. After some time it would flicker between a normal picture and the black/red picture. I googled LG PLASMA PROBLEM and found something about LGs,Phillips, and Magnavox plasmas having this problem. Didn't need to read any more so I called AMAZON and asked to return it for a refund. I'm SOOOOO glad I bought it through Amazon...no hassel..no shipping charges..veerry easy. Their shipping company just comes to my house and picks it up.I was also just within the 30 day return limit. I'm replacing it with a Samsung Pn51D7000, a little pricier, but also a great deal on Amazon. I STRONGLY suggest that any TV buyer do these 2 things: 1. SAVE the shipping box, you can't get a refund without it) 2. Buy an extended WArranty from SQUARETRADE.I bought the warranty (4 yrs, about 135.00 with promocode on their site) and Squaretrade REFUNDED the entire amount since the TV was being returned. All in all, I loved the TV , but because I bought through Amazon I was able to get a full refund and not have to go through the Manufacturer's service process.

5Great 3D Plasma
By rmsuriani
I did a lot of research before finally deciding on the LG 60PZ750 reading reviews from other websites. The specs on the LG looked good, and it has a lot of extra features for the price. A friend mentioned they paid much more for a 60 inch w/out 3D.Last night I watched my first sporting event in 3D, the NBA finals. I thought I would get tired of wearing the glasses, but they didn't bother me after my eyes adjusted. Basketball in 3D was amazing. A totally different perspective. I only wish they had the same announcers as the ABC broadcast?? 3D isn't for everyday use, but is great for big sporting events and movies. The HD picture is great. I am still tinkering with the settings, but the game in "sport" mode looked great. The TV is very thin, but heavy. Not a big deal, but you will need 2 people to mount it on a wall. I also purchased the wifi usb dongle and it worked great. I haven't watched a movie on netflix yet, so I can't comment on the quality. There are a ton of network features that I will begin to explore when time allows. My only negative comment is the TV issues a warning when you switch to 3D mode, and the only way to turn it off is with the LG TV remote. I use a universal remote that controls Directv and my receiver when "watching TV" so I have to keep the little "wand" remote handy. I am sure I can modify the universal to fix this, or possibly turn off the warnings, but I haven't figured that out yet.

5Wow!! I am so happy with this purchase!
By B. Flamenco
Ok, please bear with me .. I love TV's and the latest gadgets .. I am not a professional and my review is more from a personal point of view.My TV arrived yesterday, replacing the Panasonic VT50 65".. While the VT50 was a stunning display, it was only that way with HD content and in the dark. When in the dark, that tv blew me away, however during the day and watching older TV shows.. I was just not impressed. I was looking for a TV that I look at any time and feel really good about. This one really does the trick, even though it is 10" smaller .. I am so pleased with my decision to swap TVs spending the same amount of money.I have never owned a Sony before, the Samsung 8000 was too gimmicky for me.. (I am not going to start talking to my TV or hand gesturing in front of it.. not to mention all the reviews posted)This model to me is the perfect for my home. I LOVE the display.. bright, crisp.. just a joy to look at.A few things that I tried to find out about this TV (before my purchase) that I could not locate anywhere are as follows: (hope it helps)*You can use the following model of 3D Glasses: TDG-BR750, BR250, BR200, BR100, BR50, Playstation 3D Glasses.*Minimal Glare (compared to VT50)*Quality sturdy stand, swivels and tilts*Wireless function works very well and is easy to set up.Bottom line.. I am much happier with this purchase!! While the VT50 has such a high rating, It was not a tv for me.. It has great reviews but if you look at the amount of used units offered by Amazon, I think I am not alone. (I mentioned the VT50 in my review, because many people out there seem to want to know how it compares to this model)I will be adding to this post as I try out more features such as 3D etc..Please feel free to ask any questions you might have.. I am happy to reply.****edit same day as post 8:09pmI have had a chance to give 3D a thorough test, watching Hugo and the Avengers. I am still impressed! The Colors, Black Level, and clarity are fantastic.. In my opinion 3D is more enjoyable on this TV than what I remember from the movies.I also tested 2D to 3D conversion, it creates a bit of depth and enhances the viewing experience. Even in daylight, the 2D to 3D conversion worked nicely.

5Viewing experience on another level
By Paul M.
I am giving this television 5 stars even though I am currently waiting on a replacement unit from Amazon because of several bright red pixels in the middle of the screen. Like always, Amazon was top notch with delivery, customer service, and response...handing this issue quickly and with no drama. The new replacement TV is expected to arrive tomorrow and this time when I power it up at delivery, I will open to Sony Home menu (full graphic screen) which obviously shows the pixel flaws. Yes packing it back up will be a hassle but well worth the final result. This picture is by the far the best I have ever seen on an LCD and I have seen many. Currently we have 4 other Sony XBR LCD TV's of different ages and sizes and there is no comparison to this new model. This XBR55HX950 will replace a Pioneer Elite Pro 530HD rear projection TV (nearly 10 years old and still kicking); which says a lot because the Pioneer is fabulous but getting dated and many possible replacements have come and gone once compared beside this TV.In general, after quick calibration and tweaking the XBR55HX950 picture is approaching the level of our dedicated home theater(OPPO BDP-95 BluRay, Anthem Statement D2 processor, JVC Reference Series projector, Stewart 110" Studiotek 130 G3 screen). This Sony's white levels, black levels, and contrast are stunning and gone are the common LCD dragged jerky motion images...this TV is fast and smooth displaying motion. The black is so black that in a completely dark room, the screen light showing black between commercials is virtually undetectable. We are displaying Blu-Rays with the Sony BDPS790 which is a great player and very convenient with the HDMI link control. I cannot comment on 3D performance, as we did not buy this TV for 3D as I consider it too gimmicky and fake looking irregardless of how it is presented. I may borrow some glasses from a friend so our children can check it out, but that is not a priority. Also, regarding our children they already have figured out the menu system, switching between sources, playing Netflix, and playing Blu-Rays...they are tech savvy for 6 and 7 years old.The color depth and edge detail is spot on and sharp looking with displayed images so real and natural. Our children were watching a movie with a bright white Maltese dog via Netflix streaming and they even commented on how white this dog was and how its hair was so real looking...a difficulty for LCD's displaying white. It does take a little tweaking of the settings and there are quite a few settings but I like Sony's menu system. I do still feel that with more involved TV menus Sony should adapt the format of a webpage explorer bar [like their website]with main features across the top, multiple drop downs, and use the Return button for Back. The networking setup, Netflix, Amazon Prime videos, and DLNA worked flawless and all our videos [AVCHD), pictures, and music came through from our QNAP NAS Twonky Server with no issues. The file interface could certainly be improved with features such as Play All, Select particular videos to play or pictures to display, and image thumbnails (think about something like the excellent PC and tablet interface for SONOS for those who know it). The OPPO has a little better interface in this direction. The i-Manual is great...it is about time this convenient feature is there for quick reference of features particular for those not so technically experienced and it can be updated as the firmware changes. To sum things up, I highly recommend this television, but if you need something bigger perhaps wait for the 65" model which will be coming out soon.UPDATED 10/10/2012: The new replacement TV arrived on 10/4 as scheduled and the display was perfect. After spending more time with the TV, we love it even more. I have tested the built in speakers and to those who do not know about these thin TV's; do not expect full sound. Even after tweaking all the settings, the sound is weak and metallic. Most will be using processors or external speakers; so even though this is not deal breaker for such a great TV...plan on supplementing the sound to be in line with the great picture. One other annoyance is getting out of Netflix or Amazon video back to...cable for instance. The Input button on the remote give an error when it is pressed and will not return to HDMI or Components inputs.

5Sony XBR55HX950 55-inch 240HZ 1080p 3D Internet
By AZ-Bob
Got mine yesterday, quick initial review... Phenomenal!! Did very little tweaking on setup as of yet, but let me tell you such a superb picture we were blown away. It bought our high definition viewing experience to a new level. Easy network setup. Amazon delivery was excellent, brought inside, and tested before leaving. We have not tried the 3D yet.I will update my review after playing with it over the weekend. But so far, extremely satisfied.Update 10/9/12:After a couple of weeks with the TV, we just love it. Yes, the 3D is excellent. We had not really expected to like or use 3D at home, but we have found it much better than going to a theater. I highly recommend this unit. The online content is easy to get to, with several sources to choose from, amazon prime, Netflix, sony entertainment, etc. I am running wireless N, via a cable modem, and have had only one bad day of streaming. (due to the cable company). The picture in general is the best we have ever seen, my wife (who normally is eh, a new TV), is quite impressed with this TV, ... buy and enjoy. BobGlasses almost forgot glasses, after researching we setteled on the "PlayStation 3 3D Glasses" and I also hightly recommend them, as made for gaming, more forgiving if laying down, and or moving your head. :)(they also fit nicely over my normal eyeglasses), usb rechargable (quick), and fairly long lasting battery life, have not went dead on me yet.

5Great TV - Excellent PC monitor
By digAl
I got this TV after reading through lots and lots of reviews. I wanted a larger PC monitor that could also double as an HDTV without being too costly. I got it from another website for under 400 with a 45-day return policy. I almost got the 32" model, but going all-out for the bigger one was better!I found that not all large HDTVs could clearly display the small text that computers use at 1920x1080 resolution. I have a beautiful 58" Panasonic plasma that accepts PC-input, but reading text on it is horrible! I'm no expert, but I read it has to do with better TVs (like this JVC) having 4:4:4 chroma subsampling. This JVC is excellent for all general PC work. Windows7 recognized it, and I didn't need to configure a thing. And computer games like Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are even more incredible at 37 inches. The "ambient light sensor" has an off-low-med-high setting to compensate for any room lighting. Black levels are very nice. Also great is its "auto-shutoff" feature after about 40sec of not receiving an input signal (like when my PC turns off the signal to the monitor after 15min). After this, it also wakes up appropriately by keyboard or mouse wiggle.(it does take a bit longer than a usual PC monitor. about 9sec to power up)I also use the "sleep timer" and the "audio-only" features to listen to TV as I go to sleep. The speakers sound incredible for little built-in TV speakers. Most panel TV speakers sound bad and the reviews I read on how good this JVC sounds were correct. The "SRS studio sound HD" isn't as good as a full AVR 7.1 system of course, but good for it's intended purpose. The size does dominate my desk, but I sit about 3 foot from it and don't have eyestrain or crane my neck to see corner to corner. Looking at it from off angle is excellent too.(unlike my old PC monitor)Compared to a plasma, this TV is amazingly light for its size. It also includes VESA mounting holes if you plan on wall mounting it. And much lower wattage than a plasma too. It's got analog and digital audio output, but I didn't use it. It also has a USB slot for watching JPEGs, I don't use it either.Cons: 1) the included base doesn't pivot up/down or turn at all. No big deal really.2) I wish it had an LED backlight, but it'll be a few more years before those come down into this price range.:(3) The Panoramic Stretch video mode could use more work. I sometimes watch old 4:3 content and I like the mode that stretches the edges of the screen more than the center. On JVCs that is the "Panoramic Stretch". Panasonics do a better job with a large center with normal aspect and then stretching the edges to fill the widescreen. I'm just picky on this mode, some people don't mind watching short-fat people, or they can use the "Zoom" mode [crop the top and bottom] or "square screen" mode [bars on the left and right].Overall I more than pleased with this purchase. I hadn't heard of JVC TVs since the 90's. Good to see they're still around and standing up to the likes of Sony, LG, Samsung etc.EDIT(07MAR2012): I'm still loving this HDTV as my primary computer monitor!! 37-inch seems the perfect size.I found a test for 4:4:4 chroma subsampling and this TV passes under VGA, but fails using HDMI. HDMI still looks good, but not as crystal-clear as VGA. This is strictly talking about reading regular-size computer text at 1080p and NOT Movie/TV show picture quality which always looks good regardless of VGA or HDMI. In fact I love watching HD videos using a Patriot Box Office 1080p High-Definition Media Player PCMPBO25 (Black) on the HDMI-1 port.

1quit working
By Rev
Got it at Christmas as a present, it was purchesed from costco, great picture, good functions and all, then it just mysteriously stopped working yesterday, jvc logo comes up when i turn it on and then it freezes, i have to manually unplug it to turn it off. It lasted the perfect amount of time to be un-returnable too, so now i have to wait for a teck to call me and make an appointment to fix it, which will probably be a couple of weeks before its all said and done. It sounds like alot of people have this tv die after a few months too, must be some manufacturing issues, probably worth it to buy a better brand name, although if it hadnt just broken i would of easily given it 5 stars for its apparent quality and value.

5Great value - good picture, best sound on a flatscreen
By Clint Walker
I found this 37" TV on sale at a large big box retailer for $350. The picture is good, probably about average to a little above for this class. The sound is where this unit stands out. From my (limited) experience shopping and viewing friends' TV's this unit has the best sound quality around. I guess that makes sense given that is where JVC has typically shined.

5My Sharp LC70LE735U Experience
By tkeeg
Hello everyone,My current TV, up until last week, had been the 65" Mitsubishi High Definition Rear Projection TV, model # WS-65813 Diamond Series. It was Mitsubishi's top of the line TV at the time and arguably one of the best performing HDTV's in 2004, #when I purchased it new#, and it is still working like new today. I'm one of those people who didn't need a new TV, but wanted a new, slim TV so I spent the past few months researching which one to buy. After spending countless hours on forums and reading endless reviews on different models and after viewing many of the contenders in person, I chose the Sharp Aquos LC-70LE735U and am so glad that I did.I ordered the TV and am happy to report that it arrived in perfect condition six days ago without so much as a mark on the box it came in. I don't know if it is because I am getting older or not, but I must say the TV felt heavier than the 99 pounds it is listed at.Anyway, on the same day that I ordered the TV I had measured the height from the floor in my living room to where my face is located while sitting on the couch. I then used that measurement to calculate how high of a stand I would need so that my face would be perfectly centered in the screen of this TV during normal viewing. Based on those measurements I purchased a cabinet that stood exactly 17" high. When I put the TV on top it, using the stand that came with the TV, it lined up perfectly for my seated viewing position on the couch, with my eyes being dead center to the height of the screen. From the TV screen to my face is 10 feet and for me it seems like a perfect distance for both regular & 3D viewing of a TV of this size.Moving on to the calibration of this new TV. The TV worked great right out of the box, but I know that a properly calibrated TV gives a superior picture. Because of this I researched all of the available calibration DVD's that were available for self calibration of a TV.. I am aware that this is not as good as paying professional to do it, but for my purpose, it will suffice since my viewing preferences may not exactly match that of a hired calibrator. I decided to go with the new Disney WOW Calibration Disc in Blu-Ray. It is in stock & very reasonably priced at several online retailers. Anyway I spent several hours with this disc and am so glad that I bought it. I can't say enough good things about it. It was easy to use and had a lot of powerful tools on it to assist in making your TV the best that it can be when doing the calibration yourself. After I was all finished with the calibration I sat back & viewed the fruits of my labor while watching the "Experience" part of the Disney WOW Calibration Disc. For those of you who don't know, the Experience" part of the disc is a series of clips from different Disney movies that will really show off the picture details & colors of your new set. All I can say of OMG....I couldn't believe how fantastic this TV looked! I am so glad that I bought it over the other TV brands available. I would have liked to have posted some still shots that I took of a few of the clips off the TV, but unfortunately there is no utility on Sharp's website to do that for a review. The next thing I tried out was the 3D capabilities. With a TV of this caliber & price point I would expect to have at least two pairs of 3D glasses included, but sadly, none are so I bought 4 of the Sharp AN-3DG20-B glasses separately. They are lightweight and fit well over my prescription glasses. Since I don't own any 3D movies I used the On Demand feature of my Comcast Service and watched some of their free 3D content. All I can say again is OMG. The 3D is outstanding! I was blown away and so were a few friends who came over to check out the new TV.Is this TV perfect....no. If you look for faults you will eventually find some very minor ones on certain content, but this is true of all TV's. In my humble opinion is about as close to perfect as you can get with today's technology at this price point.Shortly before posting this review, I watched several network shows including Dancing With the Stars & X-Factor on Comcast Cable. I have to say that I was just blown away by the sharpness, color depth, details & black levels displayed by this TV. It was in a word....AWESOME !Maybe I'm just lucky & got an exceptionally good set I don't know, but I am one VERY HAPPY Sharp Aquos LC-70LE735U owner !Regards,Tom from New Jersey

5Even Better than Plasmas!
By Hip Hop Dude
I purchased a Sharp 70LE734u a few months ago for my bedroom, and have been so impressed by it that I decided to "upgrade" my 63" Samsung Plasma (PN63C8000) to a new Sharp 70LE735u. I decided to go with the 735u because it offers 3D capability, and I've heard from a few Magnolia salespeople that manufacturers put their best processors into their 3D sets. The picture is amazing on both of my Sharp 70 incher's, but I think I give a slight edge to the 735u for a picture that "pops" right out of the box. What can I say, these sets are enormous, with big bright colorful pictures to match! I think the "Quattron" 4th color (adds yellow to the pixels) really is worth it, I've never seen such bright, vibrant colors. And according to their Energy Star labels, only cost about $22/year to run. The only negative thing I can think of to say is that now I find it very difficult to tear myself away from the tv screen. I doubt I'll go to any concerts or sporting events anytime soon, as watching them on these sets is actually better than being there, in my opinion! Compared to my Samsung plasma, the Sharp's picture is bigger, brighter, more colorful, and more lifelike to me. From someone who's owned about 15+ plasmas in his life, my advice is to buy the largest screen that will fit and that you can afford. For those lucky enough to be able to own one of these Sharp's, enjoy!

4Disappointing at First but Great TV After Some Calibration.
By sarifin
Being a technology professional, My expectation on this television was quite high from the moment I saw it in Best Buy. I did a good amount of research for about 2 weeks. Read every reviews about this television in online stores, watched every You Tube Video's about Sharp Products in the same line spoke to sales associates in two major stores. One thing I could not understand why people gave this TV a 5 start rating. In my opinion in this world of evolving technology there are very few products that deserves a 5 start. Oh well, after 10 days I can say that this TV deserves a 4+ ratings in my opinion.Watching Blue Ray DVD in Best Buy was quite satisfactory in this TV but my concern was much more about quality of HD channels from my Cable box.Oh well, finally ordered and received this TV about 10 days ago from Amazon. Saved about $500 as Best Buy would not match Amazon Price.Initial experience of this TV was not as pleasing as I thought would be. I was almost wanted to call the Amazon vendor and return this TV, but decided to start playing with picture calibration settings.Took about two days to adjust these settings to close to perfect.Within a day after calibration, I realized why this TV is rated 5 in most reviews. The pictures are amazing. HD video from Cable Box looks amazing and Blue Ray DVD's are just flawless.I am giving this TV a 4 Start cause, I did notice few minor issue. In my honest opinion TV this size and caliber should not have few of these issues. Here the pros and cons of this TV as per my 10days of experience.Pros------- Nice Size, Perfect for a room size of 15-20 foot.- Amazing picture when configured properly.- Lots of Applications including Netflix, Youtube, Pandora, VUDU, Blockbuster, Picasa.- Wireless internet is flawless.- Plays DLNA content very well, no lag at all.- Easy to use Remote.- Good 3D quality (Only Tried 3D demos so far)- 2D to 3D conversation works well.Cons-------- Sound is not as good as it should be for TV this size and caliber.- No 3D glasses, had to buy extra glasses.- Took good amount of time to calibrate, colors, hue, sharpness.- I am not sure if this TV is true 240hz. Aqua motion seems Sharps own interpretation of 240hz.- Did notice some pixilation in first few days.- Heavy about 100LB.

3Great picture, awful sound
By C. Aymar
We purchased this TV to fit into an entertainment armoire that we bought many years ago. The case size makes it a perfect fit, and with its swiveling stand, I can position it optimally. The most important thing to me in a TV is the picture - and that's where this model excels. It has amazing contrast for an LCD TV, although much of this is due to the better capabilities of the LED backlight. it's impressive compared to many other flat screen TVs I've seen, including the 37" Sharp Aquos it replaces - with much better range of viewing angles and far greater detail. The Bravia also does an amazing job with standard definition TV, which is another area where the Sharp fell flat. Although it looks a little fuzzy here and there, you just don't see the same kind of pixelation I noticed in other HDTVs. Finally, this TV comes out of the box with little need for fine tuning. It will ask you whether it's being setup in a home or retail environment and configure the picture accordingly. I spent hours setting up the Sharp with different calibration tools - I didn't find this to be necessary with the Bravia. This TV comes equipped with a plethora of connectivity options, which is important to me since we have a variety of devices connected (Blu-Ray, VCR, Wii, WDTV Live, etc) and with its swiveling stand, it's easy to reach the ports. Although I would have preferred the basic controls on the top of the unit, like the Sharp, they are not terribly difficult to access along the back of the right side of the set.The picture alone makes this TV worth the money. But I'm deducting two stars for the other half of the AV experience - the sound.I realize that modern flat panel TVs, particularly the super-thin LED variety, don't have a whole lot of room for decent speakers. However, the speakers in this TV are just unacceptable. Volume is not the problem. These speakers simply can not come close to touching the range and depth of other TVs I've used, and particularly the Sharp that it replaced. They are just stunningly bad - and I am far from an "audiophile". The sound reminds me of a cheap clock radio. Yes, you can hear it and keep up with what is displayed on the screen, but it's almost monotone, lacks any kind of depth and if there's any kind of music in the background, forget about distinguishing voices. Even my wife, who is not particularly detail oriented when it comes to technology, could notice how tinny it was.I'm not sure why this is the case as this TV does have a bit of a "bump out" for the speakers at the bottom/back of the unit. They just don't face the right way (forward) and are of poor quality. I guess Sony expects most buyers to opt for a home theater system. I have never felt the need to buy one before I purchased this TV. Now that I have, I'm glad I did - but it does stink to have to use a universal remote (Harmony 670), rather than the intuitive remote that came with my Verizon FIOS service. I plan to experiment with the Audio Return Channel and BRAVIA Sync features of the Sony HT-CT150 that I bought to compliment the TV, but haven't gotten around to getting long enough HDMI cables to accomplish this.I'm not really going to get into the "smart" or "Internet connected" capabilities of this TV, as they are rendered mostly redundant by those built into my Sony Blu-Ray player. To be frank, I wouldn't judge a TV based on that criteria, since there's a variety of much better options available via tiny set-top boxes that can be had for less than $100 and are sure to be much more readily up-to-date in terms of the ever-changing services available on the Internet. So in short, this is an excellent TV if you plan on using it with or buying an audio system for it. If you're not, be sure to experience it in person to decide whether you can live with the poor audio.

5Impressive looking picture quality
By Seth Dewey
I have had this TV for a few months now and am very pleased with it. Let my preface this by saying that I used to sell TVs for a living and I am pretty particular about picture quality. (I am particular about sound quality as well, and don't believe that any of the speakers that are built into TVs nowadays are worth a darn. I have all the TVs in my house hooked into separate audio systems, so you won't see me addressing the sound quality of this unit.) Many TVs out of the box have exaggerated colors and contrast, so that they will "pop" in the bright conditions of the store showroom. When you start up this TV for the first time, the on-screen display asks if this is being setup for store display or home use. When you select the home use option, the picture that one gets out-of-the-box is really quite impressive. I fooled around with the settings a little bit, but didn't find that I had to do much in order to have a picture that I am very pleased with. The USB network adapter is easy to setup and configure. The internet apps are OK, but nothing that is going to take the place of my iPhone. On the other hand, I have streamed several movies from Amazon (both paid video-on-demand, and free movies from my Amazon Prime account) and have found the video quality to be very close to that of Blu-ray.When viewing a black (or very dark scene) one can notice a slight bit of light leakage along the corners (particularly the bottom corners) of the screen. This is something that is inherent to varying degrees with all LED edge-lit televisions, but it is not often visible with this TV and unless one is looking for it, I doubt that many people would find it to be distracting. I am not a big fan of the remote that comes with this TV, but a generally use a nicer universal remote, so I don't find this to much of an issue either. This TV is a decent value at the $1200 or so that it was going for a few months back, and at the current prices it is a much better value. One more thing I wish to add to the review. The Clear Resolution Enhancer picture engine, while not one of Sony's more advanced, still does an admirable job on standard definition material. I rarely watch standard def sources, but my wife does, and I was surprised at how much the SD picture quality was on this set was improved versus the older Sony that it replaced. I am more likely to watch SD sources now that I find the picture quality to be acceptable.

5A great choice!
By Chauncey
I did a lot of research leading up to this decision. I was originally leaning towards the "top" brands that consumer reports and cnet were recommending. Those brands are Samsung, Panasonic, and LG. To be fair, this Sony rated well with consumer reports, but you can't just go by reviews, one has to go see the t.v. on display at a store, and that's what I did. After 3 visits to a big electronics store and observing the various models for a long period of time, I was leaning towards the 40 inch Samsung. Right next to the Samsung I noticed a t.v. that had a great picture and much more natural and richer color. In fact, the colors were much better! It was this Sony. When the Samsung demo was showing human skin tones, they were just not right. One darker toned woman looked orange but on the Sony, her tones were just right! After watching for a while I noticed that all the colors represented by the Sony were much richer and more natural. I was pleasantly surprised. I also noticed that I never observed any motion blur on fast motion scenes like a football game. I also noticed that Sony's use of LED lighting was better than Samsung. The Samsung model made people look too pasty. I went home and looked at CR's take on this model and it was rated very well. They said it had an excellent hd picture. Out of the two brands, the sales associates said they would choose the Sony. I made my choice and bought this model. We absolutely love it! So glad I took my time and went and watched them in the store. Just got hd service and we are so happy with our decision! Let me remind you that Sony has been making t.v.'s for a long time and I am glad I chose them. Also, it's great to have Netflix stream right to the t.v. Hope this helps.
