    5No better 46" LCD - period!
    By B. Reardon
I searched for a flat-screen tv for a couple of months, and finally chose the 4665. I chose the size of the TV based on my room, and decided 50 was too big and 42 too small. This left me without a decision on plasma vs lcd, which was ok with me. Plasma has more basic issues, and going LCD was not a sacrifice - except I had yet to see a LCD with black blacks, so I was not sure what I would see in the 46" range. As for price range, I decided that I was going to buy the tv that I was happiest with. It was not that I have unlimited budget, just that I wanted to make sure that I would going to be completely satisfied with a 2-3k purchase. I really only knew about the plasma tv's in 42" 720p, so I had a lot of research to do to understand what to buy. After reading hundreds of reviews and going to several stores to comparison shop, I was basically down to three Samsung models. I was considering the LN-T4665F, LN-T4661F and the LNS4696. Going straight by the specs, the 4665 looked to be the best because of the 15000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. With this in mind, I was confused to see that BestBuy has the 4696 in their Magnolia section and not the 4665 - my only guess is that it is because the 4665 does not have a cableCard slot. After lots of playing I was more than happy with each of the TVs, and my choices were narrowed down by wanting more hdmi's right on the set, wanting the best possible contrast, and the glossy screen on the 4665. I have seen several complaints about the glossy screen, however this was a selling feature for me - for the same reason that I ordered a MacBook Pro with the glossy screen - I just think that it makes moves look better. I can deal with reflection during the day to get a picture that I am happier with when watching a movie at night.I must say that I am extremely impressed so far. I have not had a single image problem yet, and the setup was clearly the worst part of this tv. All-in-all, I am 100% satisfied with this purchase. So here's my brief summary of the high/low points:Pros: 1. (3) HDMI inputs 2. Excellent contrast - forget the numbers, as they are fiction - the blacks are black 3. Glossy screen - movies spectacular - Toy Story is mind-blowing! 4. Weight - This is one of the newer, lighter sets 5. Price - Not that this set was cheap, but I liked this over the Sony and would have spent another $1,000 to get a comparable Sony - and I hate the glass around the Sony'sCons: 1. No cableCard slot - really only matters if you want to mount it on the wallThat's how I see it. I give this TV my highest endorsement.

5Here's why I bought this, here's why I'm even happier now.
    By J. Hopkinson
I'm the guy everyone in my family comes to for product advice, so hopefully my story will help people if they're on the fence. Most of the decision points are the same as other reviews, but here's how I came to my conclusion, and the unbelievable bonus that makes the purchase even better than I could have hoped.Do I pay extra for 1080p? In the end I voted yes for this. Why? Because at my core I'm a tech guy. I may cheap out when buying certain clothes or pack my own lunch, but when it comes to technology, I want to be ahead of the curve. I buy extra ram for my computer so it will take longer to become obsolete, and the same goes for getting the newer technology for my TV.LCD vs. Plasma: I'm a huge sports guy so this one was tough for me. But in the end, I decided that the blurring on fast sports was probably imperceptible (I was right), I read some real stories about burn in, and I wanted the option to hook up my laptop if I wanted.Brand: Sony is too expensive, and I eliminated the lower models like Philips, LG, etc, and went between Samsung and Sanyo. For this, I looked at them side by side in the store, and the Samsungs were just brighter and crisper.4665 vs. 4661: Because I had been leaning somewhat toward a plasma, I went with the 4665 because it was brighter, more "glass-like" in appearance, and well, performed more like a plasma. I live in a small NYC studio apartment with only 1 window. So while this sucks for natural light, it's a perfect scenario for this TV. Glare is non-existent.40" TV vs. 46" TV: I went back and forth on this, and to be honest, if Samsung had made a 42" like every other brand, I would have probably settled on that. But the guy in the apartment before me had a 47" Vizio in here. What was I supposed to do, go with 40" after that? So even though my last TV was a 30" Toshiba tube HDTV, and the 46" looks somewhat ginormous in my studio, I said what the hell and went with bigger is better. I think the quote that got me was, "I've never met anyone that wished they had gotten a smaller TV, but I know several that regretted not going with a bigger model."Buy local or through Amazon: Well, we tried. My friend and I went to a local retailer here and said if he could come close to the Amazon price, factoring in shipping and tax, we would buy from him (both my buddy and I were buying TVs at the same time). They couldn't come close. Read on for the money factor...Bonus: Here is the tip that you probably didn't know. So not only was the initial price ($2049) lower than the local retailer. And not only was shipping free. And not only was the tax free. And not only did I get multiple $25 gift cards because I used my Amazon credit card. But Amazon has a policy that you can call up unlimited times and get a price reduction if you see a lower price on the product. So I bought my TV for $2049 on Nov 1. A week or so later, it had dropped to $1999 and I called and they credited my account. I set a reminder in my work Outlook to check every day at lunch. It dropped again to $1949. Call. Refund. I definitely made sure to check on Black Friday. And Black Monday. And again. Call. Refund. And again. So in the end for me the price has dropped from $2049 to $1799, saving me $250 off my original price. Oh, and my friend's TV dropped $50, my HD DVD player dropped $10, and even my wall bracket dropped $20.But wait you say, I don't have time to sit on hold all that time. Well, you don't. If you go to Amazon's help page, there is a feature called "Call me now." You type in your phone number and literally 5 seconds later, your phone rings with a live person on the other end, and 2 minutes later you have your savings. And no, I don't work for Amazon. Like I said, I'm the bargain guy, and I know every trick to get a good price. And if one end of the spectrum is creepy commissioned salespeople in Manhattan and the other is a flawless customer experience, it's a no brainer. All this would be irrelevant if the performance didn't live up to the hype. Well, it does. In a word, the TV is stunning. End of story.

    5Supposed to be excellent
    By J. Heizman
I don't normally write reviews without owning a product, however.. I have ordered (the 4661) based off the following:If you've never been to avsforum .com, it is a purely message board/forum style website where every manner of A/V is discussed. There are entire forums dedicated to discussing the various technical aspects of LCDs to Plasmas to projectors. Long story short, there is a month old, mile long thread that has nothing but glowing things to say about Samsung's LNTXX61 and LNTXX65/66 series of TVs -- how it's refreshing to have a TV that doesn't have clouding/banding issues. AVSForum is pretty much the site for technophiles, and the positivity is consistent, so it's not just one or two jokers from Samsung trying to make their product look good.THAT is the reason I placed the order for this. It has been a long time since a product line has received that much positive review on that site. Most have said the detail improvement by bumping up to the XX65/6 over the XX61 is subtle. The 4661 has more of a matte finish around the edge whereas the XX65 has a shinier edge -- which most have said is not bothersome when watching a show (some were concerned at first because they could see themselves while watching TV but have said overall it doesn't bother them).DO NOT get wrapped up in the whole "15000:1 versus 10000:1 contrast ratio" marketing difference. The differences are again much more subtle than manufacturers would have you believe. There are whole articles about how anything over 500:1 in anything but a _completely dark_ room is not noticeable to the naked eye.Probably the main reason to perhaps go with the XX65 series is due to the apparently "lacking" speakers on the XX61 series. If you do NOT plan to hook this TV to an external sound system, then it may be worth considering the XX65 for the improved built-in speakers. The 65 has them on the sides, the XX61 has them underneath facing downwards and apparently the sound isn't ideal. Although one might say for the 300 price difference between the two, buy the 61 series and apply that 300 towards a nice stereo receiver like a Yamaha.I hope this information is helpful, I will add once I receive one myself. But if you're on the fence, rest assured you are buying the latest and greatest at a great price (come on.. <2500 for a 46" LCD! Just a year ago that was unheard of) and will NOT be disappointed. If you need more reassurance, head to AVSForum and read the forum on this TV, but let me save you the trouble, I've summarized everything of interest in the above and you'll find pages and pages of "What a relief it is to have a TV that doesn't have the problems that plagued the last generation of LCD panels". The technology has definitely matured with this release.Take a look at Sony's V462500, which is a year old. It was a great model from Sony, but at a year old it's still several hundred more than this set. So the point I'm trying to make is you can feel good about this price.

5Very happy I ignored all the bad reviews.
    By L. Cypert
I bought this tv even with all the bad reviews and i am so glad i did. The tv arrived the next day with amazon prime free two day shipping. Just like everyone said the picture is excellent, and the 120hz refresh rate makes for an incredibly life like viewing experience. As for the sound I have noticed that the sound level does seem to fluctuate when changing channels, but this was easily fixed by turning off the truvolume feature. i have only had the tv for a week but there has been no problem with the sound matching up, i do have version so it may be that the tv doesn't work well with certain cable providers. The volume and power of the speakers in my opinion are great, far superior to other sets I've seen with hidden speakers in which the sound is always muffled.I am very pleased with my purchase, and at a price of only $450 and only $50 for a three year warranty i don't see how you can go wrong with this tv.

4Incredible Picture, Awful Audio, But Workable Set
    By Brent in NY
After reading a ton of reviews on several sites, I hesitantly bought this on sale at BJ's for $399...the price was too good to pass up. First and foremost I want to clear up the "lip sync" issue, because that is a truly annoying thing to have to live with...you HAVE TO USE AN HDMI cable with this set ($32 Walmart - bought the Vizio brand - figured that made the most sense). The regular audio/video cables that come in the box are pointless, Vizio can have them back. "lip sync" fixed. After a few days of use, I noticed the volume fluctuations that have been described in reviews...I could live with them, but choose not to...so I bought Vizio's basic Sound Bar ($98 Walmart). Got that home and again with the cables provided, I couldn't get the sound bar to work, so back to the store to buy an "S/PDIF" audio cable(This is what it said next to the input). Not available at Walmart this time, so over to Radio Shack I went. The guys there had no idea what I was talking about, but we did an internet search and found out it is simply an "optical audio" connection, they had one and I bought it ($25 Radio Shack). Got the sound bar working, and the "Volume Problem" is fixed and it sounds great! The sound bar utilizes the "TruVolume" and "TruSurround" features perfectly. Now I just need a universal remote so I can control everything with one device. So my final thoughts are...with all the extras bought and in place, this set is a phenomenal value considering the price paid! $399+35+98+25=$557. Plus I threw in the 3 year warranty offered me for $40 (after all, I said bought it hesitantly). So for everything under $600 and the proper/best video/audio hook-ups in place and complete with sound bar, I am very happy. I knocked it down 1 star for Vizio being a pain in the ass and making me do all the "runaround", I am in Marketing, and if I worked for Vizio, I would put out a bundle edition with EVERYTHING in one box.

3Great picture but some usage problems
    By J. Hahn
I purchased this unit because I have a space in a cabinet that's less than 36" wide and this is one of the few 37" TVs that will fit. There are some problems which I find annoying but some people may not notice or care about. Sometimes there the audio and video are not in sync. The audio leads the video by a fraction of a second. It happens about 20% of the time. Sometimes the set reboots itself, going black and then displaying the VISIO logo before restoring the picture. This is very infrequent, but it does happen occasionally. The response to the remote in some cases is slow. For example, unmuting takes a significant fraction of a second. There are other less bothersome issues too. I called VISIO tech support and they said they weren't familiar with these problems and had me do a full reset which had no effect. I exchanged the unit I bought for a second and it had the same problems. Then I read a review by someone else complaining about the same problems (and others). The set has great specs and the picture seems to be just fine and that's most important. I would really prefer to replace this unit with another brand, but there are no reasonably priced 37" sets on the market at this time that will fit.Update (1/18/11): I ended up getting the Samsung LN37C530 (one of the few others that fits in my cabinet). I ended up spending about $600 for a TV that's only 60Hz and would not have done that if I didn't have to. The Samsung has none of the sync or volume issues that the VISIO did with the exact same inputs. Some other observations: one gripe I had with the VISIO was slow tuning on broadcast signals. The Samsung tunes much faster, but the VISIO was able to do a better job of locking on to weak signals. I surf a lot, so prefer faster tuning. I had to tweak the Samsung picture to get it to my liking and I don't think it's as good as the VISIO (not a refresh issue; I can't say I notice that). One big advantage of the Samsung is that it creates a program guide from the broadcast signals that's very handy. In sum, I could not live with the VISIO issues and am definitely happier with the Samsung despite its higher cost, lower specs, and its own quirks.

    5Amazing picture!
    By kyderby1
I waited quite a while before getting a HDTV; I am glad I waited. I purchased one in December 2012 and have allowed a 'break-in period'. I ordered a Disney "World of Wonder" Blu-Ray calibration disc from Amazon and completed the fine-tuning of the factory settings last week. Out-of-the-box the picture was sharp and vivid; the calibration disc improved that, and it was about $13 when I ordered it!These are the settings I found for my Plasma TV in a average light room From the Menu screen, go to Picture. On the Picture Menu, highlight "Cinema": make your adjustments based on this color profile.Contrast +83Brightness +63Color +53Tint +0Sharpness +39Color Temp NORMALManagement OFFCATS OFFVideo NR WEAKAspect Ratio FULL / SIZE 2This looks better than it did in the store and reducing these factory setting to the ones I have provided here should prolong the life of your screen. Also, on the Panasonic, I have set the Anti-Image retention setting to ON and the Scrolling Bar test (for a plasma). I run that 15 minute test every two weeks.

    4Great TV
    By C. Helmer
I purchased this TV to replace the big tube TV in our bedroom, and have been extremely pleased with it. The viewing angle is extremely wide compared to other LCD TV's I have looked at in the past. I don't know if that is a product of the technology getting better in time or if it's specific to Vizio. The picture quality of HD signal rivals my 1080i native 50" plasma. The menu/software is fairly intuitive and gets you setup in short order. The only reason I did not give this a 5 star rating is due to the built in guide, which will show you what is on the current channel only. It would be nice to have some memory in the guide allowing you to view other channels schedule as well. I know that most of the converter boxes are doing this so it seems this would be a fairly cheap addition. Another poster mentioned that you cannot change the picture format & that it was not Closed Caption capable....which is simply not true. I can select from normal, wide, or pan for my standard def signals. Of course, if you're watching HD you are forced to use wide....which you'll get with any widescreen TV?!? Closed Captioning is also available.Wall mounting this TV only requires a light duty wall mount as the TV itself only weighs 17 lbs. I picked up a mount at Best Buy for $29, mounted the TV to the wall, and now have the top of my dresser back.

    4Wonderful LCD, Great Value
    By L.C.S.
I recently purchased this television for my bedroom. It's the perfect size to give a "widescreen feeling" and HD experience in a bedroom without being overbearing. This is my second Vizio, and I made the purchase after owning a 42" 1080p for a year. In fact, I returned a 26" LCD by another maker that I had purchased on Black Friday. Although that TV had some nice qualities, I was not completely satisfied and I found myself worrying about the life of the TV and the manufacturer's rather poor reputation for handling repair/replacement issues. When the price of this 26" Vizio dropped to only $50 more than I had paid for the Black Friday deal, I jumped at the chance to go with a television with the quality, performance, and reputation of Vizio. I did extensive research and shopping (looked at a lot of TVs both at stores and in friends' homes) before I bought my first Vizio and again when looking for a 26" TV, and I am one of those who will tell you not to be fooled by people who claim that their [certain other brands] TVs are far superior to Vizio. It's simply not true but some need to justify paying too much money. Of course some TVs may be superior in some ways, but Vizios compete solidly in the side-by-side viewing comparison and features offered. For those who haven't shopped LCDs much, please note that all major manufacturers, including Vizio, tend to have more than one (often several) models of the same size with widely varying characteristics. So if an X brand TV is priced competitively with a Vizio, do not assume that because the other TV is X brand with sexy advertising that it is superior and a better buy. It's likely that the X brand-big-advertising-budget-manufacturer TV is their low-end model with inferior specifications/quality. Vizio offers excellent pricing throughout all tiers of its product line, so a high-end Vizio will be cheaper than a high-end X brand but only a low-end X brand will be priced similarly with a high- or mid-range Vizio. Thus the value of Vizio is pretty great. The picture of my 26" is excellent and I definitely get that "wow, I can't believe how beautiful this picture is feeling" when I watch. The range of viewing angles seems really good (especially compared to the TV I returned). There are many options for picture customization so please play around with the settings to get them to your liking (i.e., backlight setting too high out of the box, picture becomes richer when lowered). There are ample inputs. Like with my 42" I am surprised by how well the TV's audio creates virtual "surround sound" with the TV's own speakers. The setup and menus are really self-explanatory and anyone who's ever used a DVD player or any basic electronics can figure this TV out without even reading the manual. The TV has a sleek look and feels solidly constructed.Vizio has a strong reputation for customer service (although I have not personally had to contact anyone regarding my TVs). They also throw in extras that many companies do not which increase their market position in my opinion--like including an HDMI cable with larger TVs and providing in-home service for TVs 30" or larger--and other nice touches that separate them from no-name (and some big name) manufacturers and increase value to consumers.

    4Make Your Own Comparison.
    By Rikki79
We are satisfied with this 26" LCD tv. It was purchased because of favorable direct comparison with other well known manufacturers as well as recommendations from friends that have experience with the brand. We have a problem free 37" 1080p Magnavox LCD for movie viewing, and use the VIZIO for sports and casual viewing in the kitchen. The set is recessed in the island, so the screen is lower than eye level. The picture is great, as detailed as our larger Magnavox, which offers greater resolution. The volume can be raised quite loud to overcome ambient noise and can be tailored to render good sound quality even being enclosed in a cabinet. The speakers are down firing, but somehow sound clear nonetheless. The images can be seen easily off axis, but at extreme angles it does lose contrast. It was easy to set up, scanning and adding 60 more digital cable channels than the outgoing analog set did. We do not have a cable box on this set yet so it will not pick up pay channels, but all are very clear in non-HD digital. DVD's look great, and of course network HD is stunning. Old analog content can blur and artifact, so if you favor this type of programming this might not be the set for you. The remote fits the hand nicely, has direct access to captioning, screen format, input, and has a led to confirm button presses, but lacks back-lit keys. There are 2 HDMI inputs, v1.3, a game port on the side, as well as coaxial, pc and analog. The stand could be stronger, and does not swivel, but it does the job.

    4Impressive HDTV / Monitor
    By Zdriver
Was looking for a big screen monitor for my new home theater / gaming PC and also used as a occasional second HDTV. Wanted an energy efficient LED display, (my main home theater TV is a plasma Panasonic G25 - which has performed flawlessly for 2 years) and this model certainly fits those requirements. This is a new Panasonic model - released in September I believe, and could find very little review information online. I have never purchased a large fragile item like this online, but due to Amazons stellar return policy, I decided to take the risk & am very happy I did.Delivery was excellent +. Appointment was for 9AM, received a call at 8:30 from CEVA - the delivery contractor, and it was in my living room at 08:50. Arrived in pristine condition - no damage to the set or the box. After a quick power up test, carefully inspecting the panel, I signed off & CEVA went on their way.HD content looks supurb. Panel brightness looks uniform across the display. There were no dead or stuck pixels. The factory settings are not the best - used some reference settings from reviews of other similar LED / LCD models and tweaked the custom settings for now to:Backlight 70Color 60Brightness 30Tint 5Sharpness 10Color Temp NormalLooks pretty darn good. Will set it up properly with Disney's calibration disc when it settles in for a few more hours. I have owned it for less than a week.Connected to my new PC, corrected for the overscan a TV monitor gives you vs a PC monitor, and WOW, a big and impressive desktop. Can read my email from across the room! Fired up 1 game on it, 1080p, looks fantastic. Audio is typical of a thin panel TV - since I have it connected to my PC with 5.1 surround, not an issue for me.The finish of the TV is excellent, piano black thin bezel with a clear acrylic surrounding it - not visible in the pictures. The black bezel thickness is 7/8" top and sides, bottom is 1 1/4". The acrylic adds 1/8" top & sides, 1/4" bottom.Overall, this is one very impressive unit. Not fair to compare it to the output & features of my plasma display. This has 2 HDMI (one with audio return) and 1 USB inputs, not a smart TV - but perfect for my purpose. If you want the smart & network connected features, all you have to do is connect a inexpensive networked blu ray player and you are there. My Panasonic plasma has never seen a network cable, the blu ray player provides all the Viera features. When I upgrade it next year, I'll move it to the LM50EM5 other HDMI port. Thanks Amazon - Recommended .... 8.5 / 10 (may go up after I calibrate it)

    4Great TV for the money
    By Stephen Shireman Jr.
The caveat to this TV is that it is bare bones. It's simply a TV with no bells and whistles. With that being said, I purchased it because of that, not despite of it. I'm running my home theater through an AV receiver (the Sony STRDH520).When I first got the TV I quickly hooked it up directly to my cable box (Comcast HD DVR) and the picture was horrible. I was getting worried. But then once I ran the HDMI from the cable box to the receiver and then to the TV BOOM, Crystal clear picture. In our house we have Vizio, Philips, and Samsung and now this Viera. Give me the Panasonic any day of the week. It's beautiful picture and deep black background make watching movies a dream. I bought it specifically for Movies and sports. NFL Redzone looks amazing in HD as well. All the colors "pop" without being annoying. I played with the picture settings for a while and once I fine tune it enough I will add my settings to the review. I started with the "Standard" settings however, and went from there, and frankly the Standard setting is fine for most. Also, though this is a 60Hz TV, you can't tell the difference when compared side by side with a 120Hz TV which our 42" Philips is. Movement is crisp and realistic. I have already recommended this TV to everyone that is looking for a 50". I only have it 4 stars because if you don't have an A/V receiver with HDMI, you WILL be disappointed.

    5Amazing TV for incredible price
    By William Phillipson
I have a home theatre system but was hoping to upgrade my TV - bigger screen and 1080p. Look at the flyers through black Friday, over the weekend and then into cyber Monday left me assuming that it wasn't going to happen this year. Then I stumbled upon this Panasonic 50". 50" HDTV 1080p. It apparently has speakers and other stuff - but isn't a "SMART" TV. Maybe this is why the low pricetag. Anyway, I got it delivered this Friday. It looks amazing. Wickedly thin - and half the weight of my old 37". Picture is beautiful. I can see everything from across the room without squinting! And the detail I can now see on plain old cable and movies - incredible! Watching old movies again and exclaiming "I didn't know xxxx was on the wall!" or whatever.Highly recommended.

    5So far so great!
    By E. Moreno
I've had this TV for about 6 months now and it's been great. Great picture with DVDs and HDTV. If you don't plan on using this primarily for DVDs or HD, then you won't be as impressed with the picture. It really does depend on the source and the connections you use. My neighbor sells home theater equipment for a living, he recommended this TV for it's picture, and so far I agree with him. The delivery from amazon was quick(about a week), the delivery company was very helpful and curtious. So far an all around excellent experience. My neighbor had a better deal on this TV but with the Shipping and Tax it would have cost more.

    5Good as it gets!
    By Dennis E. Marshall
This Toshiba projection TV was the best that I found. Nice picture and great sound. The TouchFocus set the conversion just right. It has plenty of inputs of different types. I was a little surprised that it had no digital audio inputs however. I would have expected to find an optical audio or coaxial audio input. However since I was running my audio though a surround sound system as well as the TV, it was no big deal. There is HDMI input instead of the more standard DVI interface. You have to buy a $129 converter cable to use it. The DVI cable is close to the same price. The menu driven interface is easy to use and setup was a breeze. I got it the same day I received the new Star Wars box set from Amazon. I really love it. The main thing that I was a little disappointed with was the thick scan lines. They're really noticeable on a dark screen. Not too bad but it may take a while to get use to it.

    5Amazing TV!!
    By jjperron75
Did a lot of research before buying this TV. I have always owned LED/LCD TVs in the past and to be perfectly honest I was a Plasma hater and never thought I would own one. I originally was going to get theSamsung UN60ES8000 60-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D Slim LED HDTV (Silver). I along with a lot of others thought plasma was a step down. Boy was I wrong! This TV has the most amazing picture I have seen, and that right out of the box. I haven't even adjusted any settings yet. Some key things I was worried about when buying a plasma was that they always seemed so much darker than the LEDs, I believe it might be the was the stores display them because the TV in the store display was playing the Dark Night and it seemed very hard to see. However once I had them put in a different DVD the TV seemed extremely bright. I owned a 55 inch SAmsung LED prior and now seeing them side by side I can tell what I have been missing. First the colors are extremely clear and accurate, I noticed how washed out an LED TV picture is now. Also the motion blur I got from any fast moving things is not a factor on this plasma as it was on my last TV. If your a fan of 3D the 3D on this TV is great. No crosstalk like early 3D models. I was also concerned about the glare, I have a sliding glass door in the room I have the TV as well as a bay window directly behind. Sure there is a little glare from the window but no more than I had with my LED, its just something that you have to deal with on any TV. This TV also has no issues viewing in the day time with the entire room lit up.Now for the Cons... the Smart TV features aren't quite as smart as they think they are. The voice control works surprisingly well unless you have the TV up loud then it has a difficult time hearing your voice. You can press a button on the remote and talk into the remote(there is a microphone on it) which will work but if you have the remote in your hand already why not just push the button. I guess this is good for web browsing and being able to speak any text. The motion control on the other hand doesn't work so hot, I actually haven't even got it to understand I am waving at it and trying to use it. It seems to only attempt to work when the room is very bright. Voice good. Motion not so good. The only other Con which I guess is pretty common with a Plasma but new to me as this is my first is the buzzing the TV makes. I am sure I will get used to it and I don't hear it when the TV volume is up, but if there is a show on and there is a quiet part of the show I can hear the buzz. Not so loud that I can't ignore and live with it though. So my overall opinion of this TV is I love the thing. You drop this kind of money on a TV it has a lot to live up to and its very easy to get buyers remorse. I am so happy I made the choice to buy this set.I have only had the TV for a day so If I think of anything more I update my review. Ask any questions and ill do my best to answer.

1Sub-screen spider craking , hundreds complaints on same issue but Samsung Poor quality and support
    By Raj
TV developed sub-screen spider cracks and suddenly died , Samsung's own tech noted ,"No External damage to screen" . Even after hundreds of complaints by honest consumers , Samsung won't take responsibility for their $3000 worth of poor consumer product. They know Thermal Expansin issues are causing their plasmas to premature failure, but they won' t admit, because they sell millions of units. It is not acceptable. Consumers Please Beware, no quality or consumer support here with samsung. Good luck shopping.

5Best TV I have ever seen
    By Knoxman
First, let me say that last year I bought the Samsung D8000 and Panasonic VT30 and returned them because I was not completely satisfied. The D8000 had an extremely loud, constant buzz that was too loud to be able to be ignored. It also had significant problems with "brightness pops". Otherwise, it had incredible color and picture. After I returned the Samsung, I went with all the recommendations and went with the Panasonic VT30. I was supremely disappointed with the Panasonic. I never felt that it had an amazing or even impressive picture. It was completely lack luster to me. The color on the Panasonic was also below average (significantly worse than my three year old Samsung $600 720p plasma). The E8000 is the most amazing TV I have ever seen. The color and definition on the E8000 are amazing. The features are awesome. It appears that the 3D is better than the D8000 as well (much less ghosting). It does still have a small buzz to it but it is no where near as loud as the D8000 and is not annoyingly noticeable. I have not seen any problems with brightness pops yet/either. In summary, I highly recommend this TV!
